Subaru Road Racing Team (SRRT)
The competitive face of SRRT morphs from black to red (and from Subaru Legacy 2.5GT spec.B to Subaru Impreza WRX STI) for 2010. Fielded by Phoenix Performance of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, the new entry takes SRRT from the Street Tuner (ST) Class to Grand Sport (GS). That pits the WRX STI against teams fielding Porsche 997s, BMW M3s, Audi S4s, Mustang GTs, Camaros, and Challengers. Andrew Aquilante returns as one of the team drivers along with Bret Spaude, a new addition to the team.
SRRT tested the WRX STI as part of the 2009 VIRginia International Raceway event in October and at Daytona in December 2009. Read more about the SRRT WRX STI here.
The GRAND-AM series in which SRRT competes has undergone changes as well. With one fewer title race on the schedule, the series in which the ST and GS classes compete has a new name sponsor – Continental Tire. Most of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge events will be held on race weekends also featuring the Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype (DP) and Grand Touring (GT) divisions.
