The Fastest Subaru Ever
In April, a Subaru research and development team attacked the 16.1-mile Nurburgring with a 2011 WRX STI Sedan. Subaru tests on the track date back to 1992. The WRX STI test vehicle recorded a lap of 7 minutes 55.00 seconds – the fastest ever for a Subaru. Commented driver Tommi Mskinen, "The car was controllable with precise and faithful handling, even on tricky corners. I could easily predict the car's behavior."
Subaru Tecnica International (STI) Contests the 2010 Nurburgring 24-Hour Race
In May, STI fielded a custom-tuned Impreza WRX STI in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Drivers Kazuo Shimizu, Toshihiro Yoshida, Carlo van Dam, and Marcel Engles turned 139 laps to finish 4th in class and 24th overall out of 206 formal entries.
