Drive Performance WRX:
Part 1 – The Plan

THE STAFF OF DRIVE PERFORMANCE AT SUBARU JUST FINISHED PUTTING TOGETHER IDEAS FOR GRAPHICS ON OUR MAGAZINE'S WRX, AND THAT CAUSED ME TO START THINKING ABOUT THE JOURNEY WE'VE TAKEN TO GET HERE. WE PICKED UP THE SILVER 2010 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX SEDAN ON MAY 14, 2010, AND, BY THE TIME YOU'RE READING THIS, THE MAGAZINE STAFF WILL HAVE DRIVEN IT TO THREE OR FOUR MAJOR PERFORMANCE EVENTS ALREADY.

 

The magazine's car is a WRX Premium with the Satellite Radio and Navigation Package. Its VIN indicates that it's the third WRX built for that model year – AG500003. Our purpose for having the Drive Performance (DP) WRX: to get out more and to share the experience of performing modifications that are suited for the everyday driver.

 

The idea of having a car for Drive Performance has been a dream for as long as the magazine has been in existence – almost seven years. Now we'll be able to play with the WRX for approximately two years, and we've formulated some plans for it, as you might expect.

 

DP WRX Journal

 

Our intention is to keep track of all things having to do with the DP WRX. We'll log all travel as well as keep track of and report all maintenance. Another part of bringing the car into the Drive Performance family will be to document any modifications that we'll do.

   

As a twist to the typical modification story, we will have to retrofit all of the original-equipment components when our time with DP WRX is over. We are required to return the car to Subaru headquarters with its original parts in place.

 

Although segments of the DP WRX journal will appear in Drive Performance magazine, more frequent updates will be posted in the Editor's Track Journal.
