After the final rounds of RallyCar™ Rallycross at New Jersey Motorsports Park (near Millville) in November 2010, SRT USA learned that driver Travis Pastrana was moving on to pursue other interests. For 2011, the team has filled that void with David Higgins, an accomplished driver who has more than a decade of successful rallying in the United States, England, and China. He and his family operate the Forest Experience Rally School in Wales.

Higgins joins Dave Mirra, who has piloted the #40 WRX STI through the last three seasons for SRT USA – the Subaru factory rally team fielded by technical partner Vermont SportsCar of Colchester, Vermont.

The team faced a number of challenges in 2010. Still, SRT USA is a formidable force within America’s rally community. Watch for intense competition from the team, whether it be for the championship in Rally America’s six rounds of stage rally, X Games 17 Rally, or RallyCar Rallycross.

For 2011, team drivers Higgins and Mirra bring ample experience to the highly competitive Rally America National Rally Championship open class. Plus, the team has benefited from its experience building higher-performance equipment to combat the lighter, more powerful rallycross cars from Europe in X Games and Rallycross. Team members expect improved results in all three types of rally for 2011.

In addition, Vermont SportsCar is one of the organizers for the Climb to the Clouds Automobile Hillclimb in June. The event will help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Mount Washington Auto Road, located at Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire.
