The Origins series has followed the history of Subaru of America, Inc. involvement in American rally through the 2009 season. Part 8 picks up with that history for 2010.

Act 8 – The 2010 Season

Upon reflection, it’s probably fair to say that the 2010 season was one of change and rebuilding. The playing field was shifting for rally in America.

Subaru Rally Team USA (SRT USA) was back, but as a two-car team once again. Between seasons, Ken Block had left to join another team and try his hand at the World Rally Championship (WRC). Since the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) had withdrawn from the WRC at the end of 2008 and was no longer competing, Block could not run a factory-backed Subaru in the WRC.

Also, the 2010 Rally America National Championship was set to be less demanding with only six events instead of nine in previous years. Furthermore, X Games Rally was scheduled at an all-new venue, which would bring unforeseen challenges.
