Getting to the Event

Some said the drive itself was the most exciting part of the weekend. A battalion of Subaru enthusiasts drove from Boston in an 80-car caravan – an impressive collection of tuned boxer beasts.

Dozens of vendors included Subaru of New England, NASIOC, and Scoobies for Boobies. The vehicles on display were also diverse, ranging from Subaru vehicles of yesteryear (a 1980 BRAT, for instance) to several Euro exotics (BMW M1 and Lamborghini Gallardo).

Meeting WBM vendors such as Kaizen Tuning, EFI Logics, Kinetic Motor Works, and ECS Performance gave everyone a chance to see how these companies are tuning cars today, plus an opportunity to talk about how they can help customize their whips: Maybe a Stage 1 tune for a WRX STI or an upgrade for a Subaru RS with a nice Blouch Turbo.

WBM helps vendors connect with their market, to talk to customers and find out what excites them and how to keep them happy, to find out what boosts their passion.

Plenty to Do

How about sitting in Dave Mira’s rally-prepped #40 Subaru WRX STI or taking part in the exhaust competition or driving your own car on the Stafford Raceway. Do you think that would knock the socks off your co-worker when you tell them what you did over the weekend?

With AWD and turbos present, life does NOT stand still. Part of WBM is about interacting with people who are just as engaged in rally, autocross, and performance as you and educating yourself on what you can change on your daily driver or weekend ride.

If you wanted to get more of the taste of rally, there was also a chance to sit in the co-pilot’s seat on a rally stage set up in a gravel parking lot with drivers Robert Champion, Ryan Wilcox, or Jamie Beliveau.

One lucky raffle winner got to drive Champion’s ECS Rallycross WRX around the course for a different perspective on the fast, adrenaline-filled sport of rallycross.

A Full Tank

Free swag, chances to win performance parts, taking your own car around the track – all that can fill your tank of car passion. If you couldn’t make it this year, I would highly recommend getting out to next year’s WBM.
