SUBARU AT THE SHOWS
AUTO SHOWS, PARTS-AND-ACCESSORIES SHOWS, DEALERSHIP EVENTS, CLUB MEETINGS, AND GATHERINGS
AT RACES AND LOCAL CRUISE NIGHTS – THESE ARE PLACES TO SHOW OFF A VEHICLE,
AND ENTHUSIASTS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY THEY HAVE. HERE ARE SOME OF
THE AMAZING SUBARU VEHICLES WE’VE SEEN DURING THE PAST YEAR.
WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? They start as dreams enthusiasts have of making vehicles
their own. Owners modify vehicles by added horsepower, embellishing exterior appearance,
crafting elaborate audio/video electronics and increasing handling capabilities.
In the end, their rides are unique and serve as extensions of the owners’
personalities.
To enable those dreams, a multi-billion-dollar aftermarket industry manufactures
everything from waste gates to brake lines to seats to miniature video monitors.
Shops around the country – including many new-car dealerships – inventory
and install performance parts and accessories.
Members of this aftermarket industry are usually enthusiasts themselves. They understand
what owners want. In order to sell their products, the manufacturers modify representative
vehicles to show off their products. That’s where Subaru vehicles are involved
– they’re popular choices for rolling test beds.

OWNER VEHICLES
A number of the events that the editors of Drive Performance have visited
include display areas for owners as well as trophies for the best vehicles. These
include events promoted by Specialty Equipment Market Association, Hot Import Nights
and dealerships.
SEMA
SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT MARKET ASSOCIATION – known by most of you as SEMA –
gives aftermarket manufacturers center stage for presenting their wares at several
events around the country. For those events, SEMA members strive to put their best
feet forward for the industry and the general public.
You’ll find Subaru vehicles on display in many of the show booths. The equipment
manufacturers make modifications using their own equipment as well as equipment
from other manufacturers. Their displays make a statement about their companies’
positions within the sports compact marketplace, and Subaru is a part of it all.
Go to www.sema.org for a list
of industry and consumer events and more information about the organization.
